The Week Ahead in MCOC – August 16-22, 2020

Next week in Marvel Contest of Champions features Week 1 of the 2020 Summoner Showdown and the kick-off for Alliance War Season 20. We’ll also see Week 4 of the Boss Rushes and Mojo gets his first run as a 4-Star Basic Champion.

Alliance Wars Seasons
We are currently in the Alliance War off-season. Season 20 will begin on Wednesday, August 19. Rewards eligibility for Season 20 locks on Friday, September 4 at 6pm EST, and the Season ends on Tuesday, September 15. Kabam has announced several minor changes to rewards and nodes for Season 20.

Full Roster Availability (No AW/AQ): 100% champion availability starting at 3pm EST on Tuesday, August 18 through Thursday, August 20 at 2pm EST.

Sunday, August 16: Sunday Arenas begin at 1pm EST. Incursions Milestones reset at 2pm EST

Monday, August 17: Round 2 of the 4-Star Basic Gambit and Air Walker Featured Arenas at 1pm EST. Summoner Sigil Owners, your Solo Event, Gold Quest, and items on a 7-day timer and the 5-Star Featured Crystal in the Black-ISO Market reset at 1pm EST. Week 1 of the Summoner Showdown kicks-off at 1pm EST. Silver Surfer is the Week 1 Boss. The Tier 4 Basic Arena begins at 6pm EST. UMCOC Podcast, Live on Discord at 8pm EST.

Tuesday, August 18: 100% Roster Availability beginning at 3pm EST, following the conclusion of the Alliance Quest Series.

Wednesday, August 19: 100% Roster Availability all day! Week 4 of the Summoner Smackdown Boss Rushes releases at 1pm EST. Alliance War Season 20 kicks-off with matchmaking for War #1 of the Season at 6pm EST.

Thursday, August 20: Round 1 of the 4-Star Basic Mojo and To Be Announced Featured Arenas begin at 1pm EST. 100% Roster Availability ends at 2pm when Alliance War attack resumes.

Friday, August 21: Incursions Milestones reset at 2pm EST. The Alliance Quest Series begins at 3pm EST.

Saturday, August 22: No schedule notes.

Chapter Guide – Act 1.3.4 – The Panther – Level 16

Summoners!

Here’s my guide for Act 1.3.4 “The Panther” in Marvel Contest of Champions.

General Thoughts:
Once again there are 3 paths, and it’s pretty straightforward. Hulk Ragnarok and Spider-Man can be a little tricky if you don’t have a 3-Star or better champion, or don’t know how to deal with their mechanics, which I’ll explain below.

I reached Level 16 during the exploration of this map. I used the Mastery point to unlock Salve. Remember to save your units for the Stony Cores needed to purchase important masteries.

Best Champs: Any

Restrictions: None

Global Node: None

Boss: Spider-Man

Boss Notes: Spider-Man has his signature ability active so he can evade you. You can counter this with Venom (whom Spider-Man can’t evade), champions like Iceman, Night Thrasher, or Killmonger who can also counter evade, or by only attacking Spider-Man while stunned. It is also much safer to end you combo after 3 hits, and to end with a light attack instead of a medium one.

Lane 1 – Left

Gate: None

Defenders: Hulk Ragnarok, Red Hulk, Ghost-Rider, Science Adaptoid, Mystic Adaptoid

Nodes: None

Team: 4-Star Sentry, 3-Guardian, 3-Star Colossus, 3-Star Gamora

Tips: You want to watch Hulk Ragnarok’s Crowd Meter under his health bar. If it goes to 100 he will activate SMASH. This means he can quickly counter-attack you while the SMASH icon is up. For example, if he launches a special attack and you see SMASH, do not run in to punish the attack as he will be able to hit you.

Lane 2 – Center

Gate: None

Defenders: Hulk Ragnarok, Red Hulk, Captain America WW2, Proxima Midnight, Mystic Adaptoid

Nodes: None

Team: 4-Star Sentry, 3-Guardian, 3-Star Colossus, 3-Star Gamora

Tips: Nothing tricky to worry about here.

Lane 3 – Right

Gate: None

Defenders: Hulk Ragnarok, Ghost-Rider, Iron Fist, Red Hulk, Mystic Adaptoid

Nodes: None

Team: 4-Star Sentry, 3-Guardian, 3-Star Colossus, 3-Star Gamora
