Early Team Building Tips For The Sinister Labs

Mr. Sinister appears to following in M.O.D.O.K’s tiny, mutated footsteps and is opening his own Laboratory. Here’s a quick rundown on the format.

Time: Wednesday, August 7 to Wednesday, September 4. Resets every 24 hours (28 times).

Format: 4 difficulty tiers, each with 2 paths. 6 fights per path. Total of 8 paths per day. You have 10 entries per day, so you get two opportunities to back out if needed.

What’s New: In addition to the randomizers you can use to re-roll the buffs, you can also select Sensory Boosts which give your champions different benefits. Some of these benefits are increased for, or only apply to mutant champions.

Team Selection Advice: We don’t know what we’re dealing with in terms of new buffs, champs in the labs, or opponent PI. Best bet, especially early, is to cover as many bases as possible in terms of immunity and utility.

Mutant champions gain added bonuses from the Sensory Boosts, so champs such as Iceman, Emma Frost, and Omega Red may have increased value in this event as they are immune to multiple damaging debuffs.

When putting together a team, I recommend bringing at least one champion that can overcome the following nodes/forms of damage: Bleed, Poison, Incinerate, Power Gain, Auto-Block, Auto-Evade, Caustic Temper and Reverse Controls.

An example of such a team would be Iceman, OG Vision, Killmonger, Hyperion, & Emma Frost.

Other non-mutant champs to consider as they could be useful in multiple scenarios:
Science: Void, Quake, Gladiator Hulk, Cap IW
Skill: Blade, Korg
Tech: Darkhawk, Ghost, Sentinel, Iron Man IW, Mysterio, Sparky
Cosmic: Captain Marvel Movie, Corvus, Medusa
Mystic: Magik, Mephisto, Morningstar, Dormammu, Ghost Rider, Symbiote Supreme

Need help selecting your team? Auntm.ai can help you sort through the options.

Spend Your S.H.I.E.L.D. Markers

The Class Trip event wraps up this Wednesday at 1pm EST, and you likely have left over S.H.I.E.L.D. Markers. After the event concludes, you will have an additional 7 days to spend any markers in the “Souvenir” section of the store.

If you are actively participating in alliance war, you will likely want to prioritize the Lesser Attack and Lesser Champion boosts, as spending markers on these now will save you units later.

After capping out on boosts, there are a number of catalysts available, with full T1a, and 7,200 T4b shards being the most relevant to end game players.

One nice bonus in the Souvenir store is that the cost per item does not increase with each additional purchase, like we sometimes see with featured items.

Whatever you decide to purchase, make sure you spend your excess markers before they expire on August 14.

Maximizing The Black-ISO Market

The Summoner Sigil is coming to Marvel Contest of Champions, and love it or hate it (personally I’m ambivalent, how’s that for a hot take), we’re all getting a free trial, so we might as well maximize the benefits. The most intriguing perk of the sigil is the Black-ISO Market, which allows you to trade-in certain items. Let’s breakdown the most appealing trade-in options, so we can make sure to have the needed items on hand during the 7-day free trial, which begins when you update your game to version 24.1, which is expected to drop on August 6.

* Note these recommendations are for Cavalier Level players *

Must Haves:

2,000 4* Shards to 1,000 5* Shards (Limit 3) – Excellent value. Even if all your 4* champs are max sig, you’re still doubling your 5* gain. Cavalier Only.

2 Tier 3 Basic to 1 Tier 1 Alpha (Limit 3) – Convert a resource useless in the endgame to one you’re starved for. Homerun value for both Cavalier and Uncollected players.

2,000 3* Shards to 1,000 4* Shards (Limit 1) – 9x 4* shard return vs pulling a max sig 3* champ.

Recap List to Horde
4* Shards – 6,000
T3b – 6
3* Shards – 2,000

Additional Notes:

While I am not personally a Featured Crystal buyer, there is clear value here, especially if you need a 5* Namor, Cull or Nick Fury dupe (or have an awakening gem). As those are account changing pulls, you’ll want to make sure you have the 11K 5* shards on hand.

The rest of the items/deals are not geared toward Cavalier level players. While the slight discount to the Mastery Cores is nice, you’re better off waiting for the next Mastery Core deal, which historically has been one of the best values in the game.
