Chapter Guide – Act 2.4.2 – Purpose – Class Gates

Summoners!

Here’s my guide for Act 2.4.2 “Purpose” in Marvel Contest of Champions.

General Thoughts:

There are only 2 paths, but there are a total of 3 class gates in this quest. Additionally, it is advisable to use a Mutant champion against Elsa Bloodstone, so you want to bring a team that has class diversity.

I didn’t hit any milestones during this quest, and I continued to invest the ISO I earned into 4-Star Emma Frost.

If you have questions about the basic attack moves and combos in Marvel Contest of Champions, please check out my MCOC 101: Combos guide.

Best Champs: Any

Restrictions: Need 1 Skill, 1 Tech, and 1 Cosmic

Global Node: None

Boss: OG Vision

Boss Notes: OG Vision has his Signature Ability active so he will gain power at random intervals. It is important to keep his power bar low, either through power drains or by baiting his SP1.

Lane 1 – Left

Gate: 1 Cosmic, 1 Skill

Defenders: Elsa Bloodstone, Thor Ragnarok, Doctor Octopus, Blade, Nebula, Vulture, Ultron

Nodes: None

Team: 5-Star Captain America Infinity War, 5-Star Hulk, 4-Star Drax, 3-Star Guardian, 3-Star Elsa Bloodstone

Tips: For Elsa Bloodstone, use a mutant champion if possible. Overall, this is the more difficult path due to the 2 gates and the defenders.

Lane 2 – Right

Gate: 1 Tech

Defenders: Iron Patriot, Doctor Octopus, Proxima Midnight, Carnage, Nebula, Venompool, Ultron

Nodes: None

Team: 5-Star Captain America Infinity War, 5-Star Hulk, 4-Star Drax, 3-Star Guardian, 3-Star Elsa Bloodstone

Tips: These defenders should be pretty standard for you at this point in the game.

My Roster:

Jump To:
Act 2.3.6 – “Whispers” – Rhino Charge!
Act 2.4.1 – “Benefactor” – Level 28
Act 2.4.2 – “Purpose” – Class Gates
Act 2.4.3 – “Revealed” – 4-Star Emma Frost to Rank 4
Act 2.4.4 – “Two Maniacs” – Mighty Colossus
Act 2.4.5 – “Nearer” – Emma Frost to 4/40
Act 2.4.6 – “Conquered” – Kang Defeated
Act 3.1.1 – “A New Foe” – Thanos

Chapter Guide – Act 2.4.1 – Benefactor – Level 28

Summoners!

Here’s my guide for Act 2.4.1 “Benefactor” in Marvel Contest of Champions.

General Thoughts:

These quests with only two lanes are always very nice. There isn’t too much that should give you trouble here, aside from maybe the King Groot on the right path.

During this quest I reached Level 28 and added a 2nd Mastery Point to Energy Resistance. I brought my 5-Star Captain America IW to Rank 2 because I had expiring Tier 1 Alphas, and also brought my 4-Star Emma Frost to Rank 3. I’m going to target at least one 4-Star of each class to bring to 5/50, and Emma Frost is set to be my mutant choice.

If you have questions about the basic attack moves and combos in Marvel Contest of Champions, please check out my MCOC 101: Combos guide.

Best Champs: Any

Restrictions: Need 1 Mystic

Global Node: None

Boss: Thor

Boss Notes: Thor should be an easy boss for you.

Lane 1 – Left

Gate: None

Defenders: Winter Soldier, Loki, Proxima Midnight, The Hood, Old Man Logan, Electro, Sabretooth

Nodes: None

Team: 5-Star Hulk, 4-Star Sentry, 3-Star Mojo, 3-Star Guardian, 3-Star Elsa Bloodstone

Tips: Nothing here should give you much trouble.

Lane 2 – Right

Gate: 1 Mystic

Defenders: Winter Soldier, Cull Obsidian, Jane Foster, King Groot, She-Hulk, Namor, Captain America Infinity War

Nodes: None

Team: 5-Star Hulk, 4-Star Sentry, 3-Star Mojo, 3-Star Guardian, 3-Star Elsa Bloodstone

Tips: This is the longer path and has more difficult defenders.

My Roster:

Jump To:
Act 2.3.6 – “Whispers” – Rhino Charge!
Act 2.4.1 – “Benefactor” – Level 28
Act 2.4.2 – “Purpose” – Class Gates

Release Notes: MCOC v29.0 – November 2020

Summoners!

November is all about the Hulks! Two new Gamma-Irradiated Champions, Immortal Hulk and Immortal Abomination are set to join the Contest this month. Be on the lookout for their Champion Spotlights, which will be released soon, and expect to see v29.0 available for download on November 2 or 3. Read The Full Release Notes.

Event Quest

In November’s Event Quest, written by Al Ewing, the Hulk has been killed by Hawkeye, at Bruce Banner’s request. But unfortunately for the inhabitants of the Battlerealm, something more powerful has taken his place. What was Bruce so scared of becoming, and what is the Green Door?

Side Quest

Joe Fixit is back with a special store. You can earn this month’s unique currency, Gamma Radiation, from the Event Quest, Solo Objectives, 7-Day Calendar, Arenas, and Shadow Base Raids. Even better, the more you spend the more you get from the Gamma Galore Spend Event, which has extra rewards including 6-Star Shards and a 5-Star Awakening Gem Crystal.

Additionally, every day you will receive a Gamma Gauntlet from a login calendar. This will grant you access to a Shadow Raid, which is a single path quest consisting of 10 fights, and there is a 30 minute time limit. The deeper you get into the Shadow Base Raid, the more Gamma Radiation you’ll earn to spend at Fixit’s Fine Goods Store. There will be 4 difficulties (Heroic, Master, Epic, & Legendary) and 7 different versions of the quest rotating through the week.

Read Kabam’s Side-Quest Announcement here.

Gambit & Falcon Buffs

The Gambit and Falcon buffs go live with this update! Click on their names to view the updated Champion Spotlights.

Alliance Alerts

Summoners will now be about the “poke” alliance members in game to let them know they are clear in Alliance Quest and Alliance War. Summoners will receive an in-game notification, or a device notification if the app is closed and then a prompt when the next open the game.

Additional Features & Bug Fixes

Apocalypse – Fixed SP2 Whiff
Bishop – Fixed issue where Chronal Anchor Level 1 would call out Power Lock instead of Petrify
Cosmic Ghost-Rider – Added Pause Title and description for “Spirits of Vengeance” synergy icon and Unstoppable cooldown icon for “Bane of Evil.”
Doctor Doom – Fixed issue where interrupting Doom’s Heavy with a SP3 resulted in Doom becoming permanently Unstoppable in AQ.
Hela – Fixed issue where Hela’s Physical Resistance Buff would trigger on an attack that did not connect.
Iron Patriot – Added Pause Title and description for Arc Overload cooldown icon from “Osborn to be Wild” synergy.
Magento House of X – Fixed Pre-Fight Ability causing parry to fail.
Miles Morales – Fixed issue with Venom Blast not applying
Red Goblin – Fixed issue with Symbiote Buff icons not showing timers. Added Pause Title and description to Bloodlust.
Vulture – Fixed Power Burn 0 damage issue while Siphon and Thermal Feedback are active.

Final Thoughts

I was a bit surprised by the Hulk event this month, and honestly, if we were going to get two more Hulks, I was hoping for Sakaar (Galactus destroyed his world, so obvious tie-ins to the current story) and Red She-Hulk. Immortal Hulk looks cool though, but Immortal Abomination, well, I just don’t want to even look at him.

My man Joe Fixit looks like he has a solid Side Quest in store for us. Currency based Side Quests where Summoners can choose their rewards tend to be pretty popular. Alliance Alerts is a needed feature, and I can’t wait to try out the new Gambit and Falcon buffs.

November is usually a strong month that leads into a great December in terms of rewards and content. Whatever reservations I have about the November champions, the rest of the update looks pretty cool, and the fact that Al Ewing is involved in the story is a huge get.
