Chapter Guide – Act 4.2.3 -Straight Outta Queens – Global Nodes

Summoners!

Here’s my guide for Act 4.2.3 “Straight Outta Queens” in Marvel Contest of Champions.

General Thoughts:
Act 4.2.3 introduces the concept of Global Nodes to the Story Quest. Global Nodes operate similarly to regular Link Nodes, except they apply to every fight on the map. If you defeat a Global Node, it is removed just like a Link Node would be. Global Nodes are often located on the final node of a quest, so you might not actually be able to remove them. If you restart the quest, all the Global Nodes will go back up, just as with regular Link Nodes.

In the case of 4.2.3, the Global Nodes are located on the main line of the quest, allowing you to take them all down on your way to the boss for an initial completion. For example, the first Black Bolt fight in this quest has a 100% Attack & Health Boost. By defeating Black Bolt, this bonus is removed from all the subsequent fights. To 100% the quest, you’ll need to take on the side paths, which force you to leave Global Nodes up. Depending on your roster strength, you may be able to take multiple side paths on a single run.

I ran all the side paths in one go, but you can break them up into multiple runs as I have below. Remember the more side paths you take, the more Global Nodes you’ll leave up on the final boss.

I didn’t acquire any meaningful new champions or make any important rank-ups while exploring this quest.

Chapter Guide – Act 4.2.2 – The Guillotine Drops – Level 43

Summoners!

Here’s my guide for Act 4.2.2 “The Guillotine Drops” in Marvel Contest of Champions.

General Thoughts:

When you get into Act 4.2.2 you’re going to see more of the purple Link Nodes. Most of the links are simple Attack, Health, or Armor boosts so they shouldn’t roadblock you. The one fight to really be aware of is the Debuff-Immune Ronan on the left side of the map. None of your Damage-Over-Time debuffs will work in this fight, and you won’t be able to Stun him unless the champion you bring has access to a Passive Stun effect. Be prepared to bait Ronan’s Heavy Attack and SP1 to get openings.

During my run through Act 4.2.2 I reached Level 43, and added a second point to Mystic Dispersion and unlocked the Pierce Mastery. My 5-Star Captain America Infinity War reached 4/55, and 4-Star Aarkus reached 5/50. I also brought 4-Star Yondu to Rank 5 and Dragon Man to Rank 4.

If you have questions about the basic attack moves and combos in Marvel Contest of Champions, please check out my MCOC 101: Combos guide.

Best Champs: Any

Restrictions: None

Global Node: None

Boss: Cyclops New Xavier School

Boss Notes:
Local Nodes:
Checkmate
Combo Shield
+100% Health
Parry

Link Nodes
+25% Attack & Health (3)

Even with the boosts this is still a standard Cyclops. Just bait his SP1 and you’ll be fine.

Lane 1 – Far Left

Gate: None

Defenders: Gamora, Iron Man, Ronan, Abomination, Rhino, Ronan, Hawkeye, Hawkeye, Yellowjacket, Daredevil, Juggernaut, Storm, Captain Marvel Classic

Nodes: +25% Attack & Health, Debuff Immune, Special Lock 2 (Ronan), 2x +25% Attack & Health (Juggernaut, Storm), 3x +25% Attack & Health, +100% Attack, +100% Critical Damage (Captain Marvel Classic)

Team: 6-Star Red Skull, 5-Star Captain America Infinity War, 4-Star Black Widow Deadly Origin, 4-Star Emma Frost, 4-Star Man-Thing

Tips: Remember that by virtue of being Debuff Immune, you can’t Parry-Stun Ronan. Captain Marvel Classic hits pretty hard so be careful there.

Lane 2 – Left to Ronan & Up

Gate: None

Defenders: Gamora, Iron Man, Ronan, OG Vision, Hulk, Electra, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Yellowjacket, Daredevil, Juggernaut, Storm, Drax

Nodes: +25% Attack & Health, Debuff Immune, Special Lock 2 (Ronan), 3x +25% Attack & Health, +100% Attack, +100% Critical Damage (Captain Marvel Classic)

Team: 6-Star Red Skull, 5-Star Captain America Infinity War, 4-Star Black Widow Deadly Origin, 4-Star Aarkus, 4-Star Man-Thing

Tips: Other than Debuff-Immune Ronan these are very easy fights.

Lane 3 – Left Center

Gate: None

Defenders: Gamora, Iron Man, Daredevil, Captain America, Star-Lord, Storm, Thor, Magik, Captain Marvel Classic

Nodes: +25% Attack & Health (Star-Lord, Storm, Thor, Magik), +90% Armor, Energize 1, +100% Attack, +100% Critical Damage, +25% Attack & Health (Captain Marvel Classic)

Team: 6-Star Red Skull, 5-Star Captain America Infinity War, 4-Star Black Widow Deadly Origin, 4-Star Emma Frost, 4-Star Man-Thing

Tips: There isn’t much to worry about here. Bring a True Strike or Damage-over-Time champion to get around the Armor Node on the mini-boss.

Lane 4 – Center Right – Easy Path

Gate: None

Defenders: Gamora, Magneto, Star-Lord, Wolverine, Star-Lord, Black Panther, War Machine, Magik, Drax

Nodes: +90% Armor, Energize 1, +100% Attack, +100% Critical Damage (Captain Marvel Classic)

Team: 5-Star Captain America Infinity War, 4-Star Red Guardian, 4-Star Sorcerer Supreme, 4-Star Sabretooth, 4-Star Man-Thing

Tips: This is the easiest path to the boss as it clears up most of the Link Nodes. There isn’t anything tricky to worry about here.

Lane 5 – Right & Up to Ronan

Gate: None

Defenders: Gamora, Magneto, Hawkeye, Ronan, Electra, Hulk, Iron Man, Ronan, Hulk, War Machine, OG Vision, Unstoppable Colossus, Magneto, Drax

Nodes: +80% Physical Resistance, +80% Energy Resistance, Special Lock 2 (Hawkeye), 2x +25% Attack & Health (Unstoppable Colossus, Magneto), +90 % Armor, Energize 1, 2x +25% Attack & Health (Drax)

Team: 6-Star Red Skull, 5-Star Captain America Infinity War, 4-Star Black Widow Deadly Origin, 4-Star Aarkus, 4-Star Man-Thing

Tips: Bring a champion that does Bleed or Poison damage for Hawkeye to circumvent his damage resistances.

Lane 6 – Far Right

Gate: None

Defenders: Gamora, Magneto, Hawkeye, Spider-Man, Yellowjacket, Hulk, Abomination, Rhino, Hulk, War Machine, OG Vision, Unstoppable Colossus, Magneto, Drax

Nodes: +80% Physical Resistance, +80% Energy Resistance, Special Lock 2 (Hawkeye), 2x +25% Attack & Health (Unstoppable Colossus, Magneto), +90 % Armor, Energize 1, 2x +25% Attack & Health (Drax)

Team: 6-Star Red Skull, 5-Star Captain America Infinity War, 4-Star Black Widow Deadly Origin, 4-Star Aarkus, 4-Star Man-Thing

Tips: Bring an evade counter for the duped Spider-Man and a Poison-Immune champion for the hidden Abomination. Skill champions are good for this lane because there are so many Science defenders.
