This month you have the chance to compete in Shang-Chi’s Ten Rings Tournament, but first you’ll need to collect the Ten Rings so you can access all the rewards. Here’s all the info on how May’s Side Quest works!
Begins/Chapter 1 Unlocks: Wednesday, May 5 at 1pm EST Chapter 2 Unlocks: Wednesday, May 12 at 1pm EST Chapter 3 Unlocks: Wednesday, May 19 at 1pm EST Ends: Wednesday, June 2 at 1pm EST
HOW TO PLAY
The Ten Rings Tournament is a bit of a combination of a couple of past side quests. Think of it a bit like Deadpoool’s Love is A Battlerealm, as it is a 3 Chapter Side Quest and 1 Chapter containing 2 Quests is unlocked each week. The curveball is that some of the Quest paths are locked and you need to find a key to unlock them. The first 2 Quests have 1 locked path, and the final 4 Quests have 2 locked paths each. This month the keys are the Ten Rings.
There are 4 difficulty levels for the Side Quest – Heroic, Master, Epic, and Legendary, and you will be able to do all paths on all difficulty levels if you choose to. The energy cost is 1 energy per tile for all levels of the Side Quest.
HOW TO GET THE TEN RINGS
The Ten Rings (keys) are earned by completing Solo Objectives and achieving milestones in the month-long Lei Tai Arena. This Arena is limited to 2-Star and 3-Star champion only. You will have to play the Arena to earn 2 of the Rings.
Note that the Ring 1 “Next Level” Objective has 4 levels to it, while the “Master” class objectives have 5. For the “Master” objectives, you must use a Skill Champion as your attacker and you need to complete the final objective in each to get the Rings. The final objective is listed below.
Ring 1: Grey How To Get: Level Up any Shang-Chi to Level 10 Unlocks: Chapter 1.1 Path 3 Note: Every player will receive a free 3-Star Shang-Chi this month.
Ring 2: Brown How To Get: Reach Milestone 1 in the Lei Tai Arena Unlocks: Chapter 1.2 Path 3
Ring 3: Light Blue (Cosmic) How To Get: Defeat a Cosmic Champion with a SP2 finisher Unlocks: Chapter 2.1 Path 2
Ring 4: Red (Skill) How To Get: Defeat a Skill Champion with a SP2 finisher Unlocks: Chapter 2.1 Path 3
Ring 5: Dark Blue (Tech) How To Get: Defeat a Tech Champion with a SP2 finisher Unlocks: Chapter 2.2 Path 2
Ring 6: Green (Science) How To Get: Defeat a Science Champion with a SP2 finisher Unlocks: Chapter 2.2 Path 3
Ring 7: Purple (Mystic) How To Get: Defeat a Mystic Champion with a SP2 finisher Unlocks: Chapter 3.1 Path 2
Ring 8: Yellow (Mutant) How To Get: Defeat a Mutant Champion with a SP2 finisher Unlocks: Chapter 3.1 Path 3
Ring 9: White How To Get: Achieve Milestone 5 in Lei Tai Arena Unlocks: Chapter 3.2 Path 2
Ring 10: Gold How To Get: Win 10 fights in the Shang-Chi Ten Rings Side Quest Unlocks: Chapter 3.2 Path 3
Note that unlike past events, the Rings will automatically unlock their corresponding gate. For example, when you obtain Ring 1, then Path 3 in Chapter 1.1 will be unlocked in all 4 difficulties. No stress over wasting keys this month!
REWARDS
Side Quest rewards will be located on the paths. You can only collect the rewards once. The total top-end rewards include 1 full Tier 5 Basic, 8,500 6-Star shards, and 5 2% Tier 5cc fragments. Bawa69 has a complete breakdown on the forums.
EXTRAS
There are several unique items that can be obtained this month. Lesser Ancient Health Potions (4,100 health), Ancient Health Potions (10K health), and Herbal Revives (25% revive) can be obtained through Solo Objectives and the Lei Tai arena. Note that these items are only eligible to be used in the Side Quest (sorry, no extra help for Act 7.2) and will EXPIRE on June 2 at 1pm EST so use them or lose them!
You will be able to earn Hand-To-Hand crystal shards in the Lei Tai arena and via Solo Objectives. These shards can be redeemed for Cavalier or Grandmaster Hand-To-Hand crystals. You can also earn enough 5-Star Hand-To-Hand Shards from the Epic Difficulty of the side quest to form 1 crystal.
The Hand-To-Hand crystals contain a limited pool of Skill champions.
Hand-To-Hand Crystal Pool Aegon Black Panther Black Panther (Civil War) Black Widow Black Widow (Deadly Origin) Daredevil (Classic) Daredevil (Hell’s Kitchen) Electra Hawkeye Karnak Killmonger Ronin Spider-Man (Stealth Suit) Squirrel Girl Thor (Ragnarok)
FINAL THOUGHTS
This actually seems like a straightforward Side Quest with solid rewards. Yes there will be some RNG with the Hand-To-Hand crystals, but this isn’t anything close to what we saw in April with the random path drops. The Solo Objectives seem very easy to achieve (we’ll have to see about the arena), and 8,500 6-Star shards is very enticing.
As always, I highly recommend that you hold off from jumping into the Side Quest at launch in case there are any bugs that need to be sorted out. Once we get the all-clear, it should be a fairly straightforward experience for everyone to enjoy.
