Chapter Guide – Act 3.4.6 – Thanos Enters – Big Account Updates

Here’s my guide for Act 3.4.6 “Thanos Enters” in Marvel Contest of Champions.

General Thoughts:

Congrats on making it to the end of Act 3! By taking down Thanos, you’ll achieve the Proven title and unlock Act 4, where the story mode content begins to significantly increase in difficulty.

Other than Thanos, the rest of the fights are pretty standard beyond the increased defender PI. There is an awakened Abomination in the middle of the map, so you should bring a Poison-Immune champion on your team. If you are taking a lot of damage, check your masteries to see if you need to add points to Perfect Block. As this is a longer quest, regeneration champions are also helpful.

I took about a month between ending Act 3 and starting Act 4, so my account made significant progress from running Alliance Events and the monthly events. I reached Level 36 and added a point to Energy Resistance, and later Level 37 and unlocked Petrify.

I pulled a number of quality 4-Stars, including Guardian, Domino, Proxima Midnight and Sorcerer Supreme. Expect to see Guardian and Sorcerer Supreme in my top 10 soon. I’ll likely use my 4-Star Gem on Sorcerer Supreme.

For Rank-Ups, I took Man-Thing to Rank 5 to avoid an expiring Mystic T4CC and also brought Emma Frost to 5/50, so she moved to the top of my profile. King Groot reached Rank 4.

Going forward, there are a number of 4-Stars, including Aarkus, Hulk Ragnarok, Sabretooth, and Killmonger I’ll be investing in to help tackle Act 4 & 5.

Best Champs: Any

Restrictions: Need 1 Mystic, 1 Cosmic, and 1 Science

Global Node: None

Boss: Thanos

Boss Notes: Thanos has a much higher PI than any of the previous bosses. Both specials can be dodged, but that may take some practice. Both specials require two dashes back, but there is a delay between the first and the second dex, so you’ll need to get the timing down.

Mystic champions have class advantage vs Thanos so they are good options. If the specials are a worry, bring a Power-Control champion. Mystic Power-Control champions like Magik, Doctor Voodoo, and Doctor Doom are excellent for this fight.

Nodes: None

Team: 5-Star Champion America Infinity War, 4-Star Emma Frost, 4-Star Black Widow Deadly Origin, 4-Star King Groot, 3-Star Mojo

Tips: Take Mystic and Skill champs to take advantage of class superiority.

Lane 2 – Left Center

Gate: Need 1 Cosmic & 1 Mystic Champion

Defenders: Drax, Wolverine, Gamora, Spider-Man, Ronan, Abomination, Drax

Nodes: None

Team: 5-Star Champion America Infinity War, 4-Star Emma Frost, 4-Star Black Widow Deadly Origin, 4-Star King Groot, 3-Star Mojo

Tips: If you have a double-immune champion, consider bringing them for this lane as there are a lot of champions that deal bleed damage, and Abomination does poison damage.

Lane 3 – Right Center

Gate: Need 1 Science & 1 Mystic Champ

Defenders: Black Bolt, Cosmic Adaptoid, Thor, Hulk, Captain Marvel Classic, Abomination, Captain America

Nodes: None

Team: 5-Star Champion America Infinity War, 4-Star Emma Frost, 4-Star Black Widow Deadly Origin, 4-Star King Groot, 3-Star Mojo

Tips: This is the Easy Path.

Lane 4 – Right

Gate: None

Defenders: Black Bolt, Storm, Thor, Deadpool, Captain Marvel Classic, Abomination, Captain America

Nodes: None

Team: 5-Star Champion America Infinity War, 4-Star Emma Frost, 4-Star Black Widow Deadly Origin, 4-Star King Groot, 3-Star Mojo

Tips: Watch out for Storm’s big special attacks and bring a Heal-Block champion for Deadpool if you can.
